What we do — and what it costs

Everything you'd otherwise spend a weekend on:

• Provision the VPS, harden Ubuntu: non-root sudo user, SSH key auth, password login off, UFW firewall, fail2ban, automatic security updates.
• Install Docker + Nginx Proxy Manager with free SSL (Let's Encrypt). No domain? No problem — I'll set you up with a free DuckDNS subdomain (e.g. yourname.duckdns.org). Bring your own domain if you prefer.
• Install whatever you pick — a VPN, and any of the apps above — each behind SSL, with backups configured.
• Hand you a one-page doc with every credential, every URL, the backup command, and the upgrade command.

Done in under 24 hours. Usually one afternoon.

Pricing — one flat price

$49, once. That covers the hardened VPS, Docker, Nginx Proxy Manager, SSL, your VPN (WireGuard or OpenVPN), and any or all of the apps — Vaultwarden, n8n, Nextcloud. Tick one or tick all three; it's the same $49.

Custom software (Gitea, Immich, Jellyfin, anything not on the list) — describe it in the order box and I'll reply with a full price.

That's one-time. The only recurring cost is the ~$5/mo Contabo VPS, paid direct to Contabo — and that single $5 covers your *whole* stack, not each app. Compare to $30–80/mo to rent the commercial equivalents: the setup pays for itself in 1–2 months, then it's pure savings for years on the same VPS.

What we don't do

• No production / SaaS workloads. This is for personal use, families, small teams, home labs.
• No compliance work (HIPAA, PCI, SOC2). For that, see our hire page.
• No ongoing support included. If your VPS breaks in 3 months because Contabo rebooted into a different kernel, that's on you (or hire us again).
• No migration from existing setups. This is a fresh install on a new VPS.

Why this price? (And why not free, or $500?)

If it were free, my queue would be infinite and I'd never sleep. If it were $500, you might as well pay Mullvad+1Password+Zapier for 6 months and stay rented.

A flat $49 is the price where the people who actually want to own their stack will pay, and the people who just want to chat won't. It pays for the work and the post-setup email support if something looks off. You get the whole stack for one price because the hard part — hardening the box, reverse proxy, SSL — is done once; each extra app is just another container behind the same proxy, so I'm not going to nickel-and-dime you per app.

Choose a VPN, tick whichever apps you want, and add anything custom in the box. Drop your email and I'll reply within 24 hours with the next steps — the subdomains you want for SSL, and either temporary SSH or a public key. I do the work and send you the handover doc plus an invoice (PayPal, Wise, or bank transfer). You pay after I deliver. If you're not happy, you don't pay.
